Odeila – The Experience

As I stated in my previous blog, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kim, the owner of Odelia, who owns the restaurant with her son, Blake, a level 2 sommelier. Blake has undergone extensive training and exams to obtain this certification. A sommelier makes recommendations for wine and food pairings. A sommelier’s curriculum includes, but is not limited to blind taste testing and extensive knowledge of the red and white wine grape varieties. I don’t drink alcohol, but I know the importance (and rarity) of having a level 2 certfied sommelier on staff at your restaurant.

The table settings were simple, yet elevated. I love the red and gold.

The selection was not overwhelming with too many items, which is something I always appreciate.

As I took a seat, I looked for a place for my handbag, and our server must have read my mind. Just as I was about to ask Matt to place my handbag in the chair next to him, the server hurried over with a seat for my handbag. Ladies and gentlemen, I was done! The handbag rested here during our meal. A restauranteur should always consider people, but when my handbag is also considered, I am here for it.

I ordered the ham gruyere quiche and petite salad with champagne dressing. Although I don’t eat a lot of cheese, I do actually love cheese. The gruyere has a nutty flavor, and it married well with the eggs and ham. I do not usually eat pork, and I cannot remember the last time I ate ham, but I had to try this.

It was lovely, absolutely lovely. There were only a few small bits of ham, so the ham did not overpower the flavors in the quiche, and the quiche had a bit of a kick, which I loved. It was a delectable dish.

As you can see, it was tasty!

Matt ordered the salmon avocado toast and pumpkin latte. He enjoyed his drink and the salmon.

While we were seated, we noticed a bookshelf, which was actually a secret door into the boutique next door. Kim’s daughter’s boutique is next door. Check out this fun, eclectic boutique in my next blog, au Darling.

Christmas is near! I’ll take you along with me to dinner with an amazing chef in Huntsville in a couple of weeks. Until next time, enjoy this holiday season and take some time to love on your family and friends!
