We took the kids to the beach for fall break. The beach always translates to good local seafood restaurants. You don’t eat cheeseburgers at the beach. You eat seafood. A family friend told me about The Back Porch, a Seafood and Oyster House in Destin. We arrived just before dark as the sun began to set behind the restaurant.
I ordered an oyster poboy, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything on my plate — the poboy, beans, and rice. If you have lived in Louisiana for any amount of time, you know the seafood (shrimp, oysters, etc.) are only one major player for a good poboy. The factor that determines whether your poboy is a success is the bread —- yes, the bread! Bread can make or break your attempt at making a poboy.
We also ordered chips and crab dip for the table. It was a great appetizer.
This was our view from the back porch of the restaurant. As we ate and passed time, we enjoyed the beautiful view of the sunset on the beach. This was the perfect way to end a busy day.
