Desert Cool

I have a thing for hats.  They can make you look so cool.  With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees in the desert on most days, shelter from the sun is a necessity.  I purchased this hat to go to the beach with some friends about 7 years ago.  It spends most of its time in a hat box in my closet because I seldom wear it.  However, when I want to keep cool, it’s the “go to” hat for style.

I fall in love with this handbag every time I wear it.  My husband purchased it for me for Christmas a few years ago.  We weren’t even dating at the time, but he wanted to buy a Christmas gift for me and this is what I chose.  He is always so sweet for no apparent reason. This handbag is from the Sabrina collection by Coach.  The bag is the perfect size and it is so classy.  I can’t get enough of it.  Unfortunately, the Sabrina collection is no longer available in Coach stores.

Hat and small tortoise shell bracelets (Banana Republic), large tortoise shell bracelet (JCrew), linen shirt (Gap), camisole (BCBGMaxazria), jeans (Citizens of Humanity), peep toe wedges (Kenneth Cole), gold necklace (gift from Africa), ring (H&M), Sabrina handbag (Coach).

These jeans are great.  They are low-rise flare jeans in a light wash by Citizens of Humanity.  I love this brand.  They always fit me well. The fabric is also lightweight and not as heavy as most jeans, which is important in the summer.  When buying jeans, you will notice that some denims feel lighter than others.  If you’re in Tucson, stop by Loop Jean Company at Casas Adobes.  They have a great assortment of designer jeans.  I do urge anyone who is looking into purchasing designer jeans to go into the store and try them on to determine which fit is best for you.

Light, cool fabrics are also great for beating the heat.  Linen is the perfect example.  On my prior post (Casual Friday), someone asked about alternatives to wearing a blazer in the summer because blazers can make you hot.  Light cotton button downs and flowing linen fabrics look great and keep you cool.  If you choose a light, sheer linen (light blue, blush, white, etc.), be sure to pair it with a cotton camisole.

Until next time, I hope you are having a great day and I’ll see you again Friday for my next post.

I like your style, classy and not over the top. You wear real clothes and not things that are ridiculous. Thanks!

I love the fit of those jeans and the light color. Your hat adds just the right touch.
