Nestled just a short walk from Coligny Beach, Watusi Cafe & Coffee Bar is a charming neighborhood staple. This cafe fits its signature slogan, “It is what it is.” The cafe is a casual place to unwind and enjoy family and friends.

We had a rental close to Coligny Beach, so we could walk, drive, or ride bikes if we preferred to. We drove everywhere, but it was nice to know that we could walk around the area if we wanted to get out and take a stroll. Most people in the area were either on bikes or walking.

The outdoor patio is a beautiful, shaded area. It is famously dog-friendly, offering a pet menu so your furry friend can dine with you on the patio.

The cafe was quiet. We went pretty early.

Watusi offers a lovely gift stop that sells memorabilia, jewelry and recycled products.

Upon entering, there is a wall of different sayings. One of them really caught my eye.

Forgive them even if they’re not sorry. Okay, that’s a tough one, but we’ve gotta do it!

If you have a picky eater, there is a kids’ menu that is sure to please your little one.

My daughter had to order an espresso. She took one sip and decided it was not for her. LOL! It was cute, but it sat on the table untouched during our breakfast.

I’m not a benedicts girl, but my daughter and husband are.

I ordered the vegan stuffed French toast, which was thick cut white bread dipped in cinnamon, vanilla & oatmilk, grilled & filled with Good Planet strawberry cream cheese, topped with fresh strawberries & a drizzle of strawberry puree. I was a bit skeptical about the “vegan” French toast, but it was so warm and delicious. I wish I could make this at home.

The menu is packed with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. From biodegradable plant-based cups to hay straws and recycled-plastic merchandise in their gift shop, the cafe actively participates in the “Last Plastic Straw Challenge” to protect the surrounding oceans. Check out their website here, and stop by if you’re ever on the island!
