Hudson’s at Hilton Head Island

Having lived in Louisiana for over 16 years, I love seafood, and whenever we are near anybody’s beach, we have to find fresh seafood. Hudson’s was the place.

Hudson’s is one of those restaurants the locals advise tourists to visit. This is a family owned restaurant currently owned by Andrew Carmines who grew up checking in shrimp deliveries and bussing tables at his parents’ seafood restaurant. Carmines’ goal is to ensure that the seafood he serves has spent only hours out of the water and not days.

They have a beautiful outdoor area with seating to watch the sun set as you wait for your table. The line was really long, but we were seated fairly quickly.

Don’t get too close to the edge though. If there is water, there are alligators.

My daughter loves oysters, so she has to order them if they are on the menu. The Oysters Rockefeller were a hit!

I ordered She Crab Soup, and it was glorious! I could have eaten a gallon of this soup. It was perfect!

These jumbo Maryland crab cakes were the best.

As you can see, the lumps of crab meat were huge!

My kids ordered, and I forgot to ask them what they ordered. I think these are either shrimp or oysters with their 7-day slaw.

I had to order the Brandy Bread Pudding. Yum, yum, yum! I love the combination of the sweet, the brandy, and the pecans.

My kids ordered the mud pie, which is Hilton Head Island’s cappuccino ice cream, chocolate fudge, and Oreo cookie crumb. This was very rich and filling. We all shared a bite. It is definitely enough to share with your family.

If you want to experience a locally owned family restaurant with a history in Hilton Head, try Hudson’s. It was a flavorful experience. My family and I enjoyed our time there. Check out their website here for more info and stop by if you’re in Hilton Head.
