Lux Bru – Madison

Today, I met a group of amazing women for coffee at Lux Bru, a beautiful, French-inspired cafe and high-end espresso bar in Madison. I pass Lux Bru all the time, and when I decided it was time for my girlfriend fix, I wanted to try this cafe. Lux Bru did not disappoint.

Not only do they have a large open downstairs area for eating and working, but they also have a great space upstairs. You can also book your next private event at this cafe.

Their Valentine’s Day drink menu is amazing! I ordered Cupid’s Kiss, described as a “chocolate-covered strawberry latte with sweet notes of chocolate, berries, and espresso.” Before my drink was prepared, I asked if they used red dye or artificial flavors for my drink. I was assured that strawberries would be used and not an artificially flavored syrup. All syrups are made in house from natural ingredients, so I didn’t have to worry about artificial dyes or flavors. I was very happy about that.

My friends ordered the Love Spell. This drink was described as a refresher with strawberries and creamy vanilla. The drink also had a delicious cold foam on top. Both of my friends raved about how delicious their drinks were. I actually tried this drink during a later visit, and I absolutely loved it. I have no idea what was in the cream foam that floated on top of this heavenly drink, but I made sure I left neither drink nor foam in my glass. Compliments to the creator of this lovely mix.

My drink was beautiful, creamy, and delicious. I’m addicted. I could taste the creamy strawberry flavor in every sip. I absolutely loved this drink.

I am happy to announce they have a great menu, including but not limited to, ham, bacon & gouda or spinach feta quiche; avocado toast; chicken bacon ranch wrap; and blackened salmon or shrimp & Gouda grits. They also have assorted bagels, muffins, and a chia seed parfait.

One of my guests ordered the spinach feta quiche and the Gouda grits. The other ordered the blackened salmon & Gouda grits. When I told them I would be back, they told me they wanted to join me again because they loved the food and the company so much. The atmosphere of the cafe is also very warm and inviting, which draws you in and makes you want to stay. We spent almost three hours here!

I returned two weeks after my initial visit with more friends and chose the salmon and Gouda grits. Lux Bru offers blackened shrimp or salmon to pair with the grits. I’m always ready for a great salmon dish, so I chose the salmon. It was P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N! It was not overcooked or undercooked. I tasted hints of dill. It was seasoned just right, and I enjoyed every bite. The grits were the right amount of “cheesy” and paired well with the salmon.

We had a great time, and everything was so delicious. The staff was also very friendly. I have found a new favorite cafe for coffee and lunch! If you are ever in Madison, check out their site here. This cafe is much more than just coffee. Until next time, stay safe and well!
