Traditionally, the tux has been a fashion piece often worn by men. However, the tuxedo has become more and more popular among women. I love the tuxedo and years ago, I decided to add one to my wardrobe. I purchased this tux in 2007 to speak to a national organization about community empowerment. I chose a tux instead of an evening gown because I just didn’t want to look like everyone else. I was successful in bringing my own style to the stage, but I’m not alone. Nearly every designer has created a tuxedo for his or her line of clothing. This tuxedo was purchased at Ann Taylor Loft for a fraction of the designer cost. I actually purchased it on sale, which made the deal even sweeter.
If you’re looking for something different to add to your wardrobe, try a tux for that next formal event. No need to wear a tuxedo shirt. A nice, crisp, white button down shirt or a white silk shirt will do the job. You can wear a french cuff shirt or a barrel cuff. I personally love french cuff shirts. Instead of the traditional black cuff link that is worn with tuxedo shirts, I chose a silver cuff link to accent the silver and crystal stones in the ring I am wearing.
I have that same suite. I’ll have to pull it out!
Pull it out and work it honey!

Hello Shayla
When I received an email about a interview in NY, you were the first person, I thought of. I thought of you, because I wanted to wear something chic and different, that I would stand out from the other applicants.
You have some interesting ideas about adding accessories to an outfit. The tuxedo is an interesting piece that I am considering wearing. However, I was thinking of a dress suite. Hummmmm……..
It depends on the interview. What position is the interview for? If it is a business, I would definitely wear a nice suit (skirt or pantsuit with heels). Check out the suit on my post, “My First.”
I love the tux! I’ve never thought about wearing one…until now. Also, I liked how you used the word “classy.” That’s a word I don’t hear too often and I miss it so. I think every woman should strive to be classy.
