Folsom, Louisiana

I’m a country girl, so I want my children to experience the country.  If you have a child who was born and raised in the city, I think it is always a great idea to let them experience the beauty and the serenity that only the country can offer.  While visiting family, we went to Folsom, Louisiana.  My mom used to tell me to “take time to smell the flowers,” and that’s just what I did.

Walking out to the pond at my uncle and aunt’s home in Folsom, Louisiana.  These corduroy leggings and the boots are so comfortable and perfect for the weather.  It was not too cool and not too hot.

Leggings (Joe’s Jeans), boots (UGG Australia), tee (Juicy Couture), long sleeve tee (GAP), headband (J.Crew), tank top (Victoria’s Secret PINK collection), watch (Coach by Movado), necklaces (Tiffany & Co. and Bella Bella of Baton Rouge, Louisiana)

Note to women everywhere:  Please, please, please always wear a shirt to cover your bottom if you are wearing opaque or thin leggings.  These leggings are a thick corduroy.  You cannot see through them.  However, I put a tank top on under my shirts to come down at least midway over my  rear end.  See through leggings are a “no-no.”  Blazers, long sweaters or shirts, cardigans, etc. are the key to wearing leggings.  If they are opaque, please wear a skirt or some other article of clothing over them.  Apparently, many women out there don’t know this.  I’ve seen too many hot pink thongs through leggings.  It’s not a pretty sight.

My mom and her Youth for Community Pride organization planted a community garden, and my grandparents always had a garden when we were little, but these are some of the biggest collard greens I have ever seen.  You probably can’t get them this big at your local grocer.

The cabbages were also huge.  For Thanksgiving, we ate cauliflower and broccoli from the garden.

This is a part of my uncle’s nursery, which is also in his yard.  The yard goes on for acres, so I just took a few pics of some of the plants.  Romans 1:20 reminds us that God’s eternal power and divine nature can be clearly seen through what He has created.  This scripture always comes to mind when I see the beauty in nature.

I wondered how everything was watered, and with the turn of a knob, water appeared!

Remember, don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Philippians 4:13  And don’t forget to take time to smell the flowers!

To the poor young lady, “Anonymous,” who wrote an earlier comment, I just want to say, May God bless you everywhere you hurt. It appears that you have a lot of disappointments and rejections in your life, but you don’t have to live that way. May God bless you this holiday season and may He richly bless your family. One thing Mom taught me was to pray and to be a woman of integrity. You are God’s child. God loves you, and so do I. You are not really anonymous because anytime someone leaves a comment, their IP address for their computer/mobile device shows up. I can actually tell from what device or carrier people send comments. I will be monitoring your situation and your address to see if your situation improves. Take care!
