Denimology

On Sunday, I died and went to “denim heaven.”  I visited Loop Jean Company at Casas Adobes and took a tour around the store with the owner who was so warm and welcoming.  Loop Jean Company has so many designer brands and every style I could think of (straight leg, wide leg, boot cut, low rise, medium rise, high rise, Citizens of Humanity, 7 For All Mankind, Hudson, Paige, AG Jeans, Earnest Sewn, David Kahn, and the list goes on).  I have shopped in a lot of different places, but I don’t think I have ever seen such a wide variety of designers under one roof.  For my designer denim fashionistas, this is the place to get it all done.  You know what I’m talking about — that feeling of finding the jeans you love AND hiring a private investigator to find a great tailor to alter them.   Did I mention that if you purchase your jeans from Loop Jean Company, there is no charge for the hem?  Loop Jean Company takes the stress out of purchasing a pair of designer jeans.  They can do the alterations, which include preserving the original hem.  This is very important to maintaining the original look of the jeans.  They also have other alteration services available for a fee.  Visit their website at www.loopjeancompany.com or stop by the store to get more information and to see the different styles and designers.

I’m loving my AG jeans by Adriano Goldschmied.  These jeans are old, but you can still purchase similar “damaged and aged” AG jeans.  To create a fabulous pair of jeans, the designer must possess a great eye for detail. Great jeans are a work of art and should be chosen carefully.  I love these jeans because they make my legs appear longer.

I love the distinctive rips and the bold stitching.

If you ever see me in public, this is usually the handbag on my shoulder.  I absolutely adore this bag by BCBGMaxazria.  The chain handle has a soft piece of leather in the middle section to make carrying this bag in your hand or on your shoulder comfortable.  The ruched leather makes it fun. There’s also a zipper on the outside of the purse for carrying lip gloss and those little things you might need right away.  The leather is soft and supple.  It’s a great handbag.

Shirt (Banana Republic), jeans (AG), handbag (BCBGMaxazria), shoes (Alfani), watch (Coach by Movado), bracelets and necklace (Bella Bella – a small boutique in Louisiana), ring (H & M), flower headband (J.Crew)

To cuff or not to cuff?  That is the question!

I think these jeans look great both with the cuff or without the cuff.

I preferred the cuff by the end of the photo shoot, so I wore them cuffed for the rest of the day!  I actually like wearing some of my jeans cuffed.  Pull out that fave pair of jeans and put on some hot heels.  Cuff those jeans and strut your stuff.

P.S.  I finally created a fan page on Facebook, so don’t forget to click “Like” on Shayla Jay’s Fashion Blog fan page at  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Shayla-Jay-Fashion-Blog/255646744452549.  Thanks!

Until next time…

    Love the jeans!

Thanks! They have a bit of stretch in them, which makes them wear really well.

Cute jeans Shayla. It’s hard for me to find jeans cause I have a small waistline and a bit of a “thunk-a
    thunk”. I love straightlegs…

There are many different jeans that will fit your shape well – AG jeans (the brand I am wearing in this post), Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, Siwy, J Brand Jeans, and Levi’s. Levi’s are less expensive and they make a label exclusively for curvy women. Most brands (designer or not) are making curvy jeans.

I love your look with the jeans… I am a jeans and heels kinda woman, myself. Jeans can be dressed up or down with simple accessories or even a blazer and heels. Love it!!

Thanks. I think heels and jeans are so cute, especially with baby tees and a nice handbag. Comfy and cute is my philosophy! 🙂

Cuffs are a great idea. I think I will try them. I am rather short, don’t know if they will agree with me. You really look great in your jeans with and without the cuffs.

I am petite also. Just try it and see if you like it. You have to be comfortable in whatever you wear, so if you are uncomfortable with cuffs, then don’t wear them. If, however, you like the cuff, you’ve found yourself a new way to wear your jeans.

For the curvy women, your seamstress should be your best friend. Just buy your jeans to fit in the hips and have that waistline tailored to fit just right. It makes a WORLD of difference!!

BTW, Shayla your shape looks really nice in those jeans. Work it!!

Thanks!!! One of the other readers asked about jeans for curvy women. They actually have lots of designers who are making jeans specifically for curvy women.
